![]() To check your device for lag: start using avsforums. Guitar hero is another matter, but it seems just fine with wireless. When playing SF4, I will only use a wired controller - I simply don't trust wireless. I do *not* like the Wii's responsiveness and easily could see coupling the so-so reception with lag. Better AV receivers allow you to pass through the picture (no processing at all) and let the TV work its magic.įinally (for lag), the last piece of the puzzle is the input device itself. Having fewer cables going to the TV sounds wonderful, but now you're potentially introducing more lag with two different scalers in the mix. By tossing the set a component input on 480p, that will "work", but the scaler may not have been built for it and now takes longer to generate a picture.Īlmost finally, chaining inputs together is generally the worst thing to do. Your TV processor/scaler may be built for nothing more than a signal coming off HDMI and its assuming 720p/1080p. Lag could also come from the input device itself. Some TVs allow you to control the processing to a minimum (or off) via "game" mode, but not all do it (mine 2007 panny doesn't). Generally speaking, the better the display processor, the faster (less/no noticeable lag) the response time. Lag (generally) comes from the video processor/scaler of the display device. ![]() (Or perhaps my Google-Fu is weak.)Ī lot of questions here related to lag, so here goes. The HDTV that I've had my eye on is the Samsung UN46C6500 (2010 model.) But I can't tell if this suffers from lag in games as much as my friend's model.Īny ideas? The Intertoobs are failing me in this regard. Would this introduce any real conversion lag? Say more than 10 or 20ms? So the receiver was doing some Component to HDMI conversion. I should note that we hooked the Wii up thru his Marantz A/V receiver because he didn't want to lift the TV off the wall to hook up the Component cables directly. With Game Mode ON, the lag dropped to 75 to 80ms, but this was still rather noticeable to me and tended to mess me up with both the Wii Tennis and GH3. The Guitar Hero calibration screen would clock in consistently at ~150ms lag. ![]() Playing Wii Tennis and Guitar Hero 3, I noticed very perceptible lag. Some of you may recall this thread that I started a while back: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=52974&hilit=LEDĪnyway, I'm still in the market for an LED HDTV (mostly because they use less power than Plasma.) I recently went over to my friend's house and brought my Nintendo Wii (because I wanted to test out the game lag.) He has a 46" Samsung LED HDTV (2009 model).
